Why Art?

Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.
— Pablo Picasso

Every choice you make-- from the friends you spend time with, to the thoughts you think, to what you hang on your walls — presents you with an opportunity:  you can move in the direction of being a fully expressed individual living out all the potential meaning and beauty life offers, or you can deny that and just stay where you are, never really knowing what you're missing.

Art can absolutely change your life.

Bring original art, made with human hands and from the human heart, and watch the magic in your life begin to unfold - literally before your very eyes.

But it’s not really magic. The mystery that seems to be there can be understood by using, by way of analogy, the way there is so much awareness these days about the importance of eating wholesome, living foods that are close to their source.

Beauty matters. It is not just a subjective thing but a universal need of human beings. If we ignore this need we find ourselves in a spiritual desert.
— Roger Scruton

I believe that the same truth applies to art.  There is so much that is soul-nourishing, healing, and life-giving in art that was created from a soul level and brought to life with human hands.  The soul hungers for beauty and meaning, needs these things not only to survive but to thrive.  Some say art is a luxury - but is your soul a luxury?  In the same way that you understand the difference in your body’s vitality between when you don’t feed it, to when you give it processed “Kiblets for humans,” to when you nourish yourself with wholesome, natural foods, you can begin to understand how to care for your soul so that not only is it not starving, or subsisting on empty calories, but so that it is able to feast on the beauty and meaning, which makes your whole life radiant, from the inside-out.

I aspire to make art that acts as a bridge between our true nature, which I believe is divine, and our everyday lives, which can sometimes make us forget who we really are.

Art can serve as a constant reminder and connection to your true-self, inspiring you and enabling you to bridge that gap and to always keep that life-giving channel open.
